I didn't know what to expect from the summer of 2021 since I had had so many problems with the deer the previous year. I had spent a lot of time researching deer netting and getting the right posts and during the months of May and June I erected a really nice 7.5 foot fence around the front. I also did the same for the back area and despite some minor problems with the city I live in, I was able to leave it up and enjoy the daylilies without any interruptions from the deer. It hasn't been completely perfect because I have had problems with skunks digging up some seedlings, but a heck of a lot better than last year. I was very pleased with how nice some of my seedlings turned out, so without anything further, enjoy the picture show:

Well, we are off to another great start to the blog season. I am still collecting pods and probably will be until October. However, I hope the next segment to be my annual segment on striped and stippled daylilies. I have several interviews lined up and other great segments so stay tuned. Hope you all had a nice summer.
Well another blog season comes to an end since we are getting closer to the time of year I have to put up deer netting and I get too busy in the garden to do any blogging. Pictured above is my friend, Jacob Henry from Alabama. Jacob has put together another great group of videos over the past 6 or 7 months and the ones below are some of my favorites. You can subscribe to Jacob's YouTube channel and I would encourage you to do so, since his videos continue to get better and better. Jacob really has a gift for putting together great garden videos. He is the Steven Spielberg of daylily videos. LOL! Who knows....maybe Jacob will be a great movie director in the future! The very first video is of Bob Faulkner and friends. We lost our good friend Bob to Covid this past winter and Jacob put together some wonderful videos from visiting Bob's last summer. Some friends will be taking over Bob's garden so that his work will be saved and hopefully introduced in the future. So take a look at each of these videos and I hope you have a great summer.
I couldn't resist posting a video I shot from the previous summer. I tried to pick one of the better ones. This was filmed on July 16th, 2020. Enjoy!
Well, there you go! Some really lovely gardens. Special thanks to Jacob Henry for letting me share his lovely videos. I'm excited for this coming bloom season. I am going down to Florida in the near future to visit some gardens there. Covid has made it impossible to travel, but I got my two shots in my arm and my Dad lives near Orlando, so this seems like a good year to visit. Have some great segment ideas for next season and of course the very popular interviews. Happy gardening to you all.

Scrolling down Facebook every day there are some pictures I see that just stop me in my tracks. I like to save them and with the permission of the people who took them, share them with all of you on the blog. Here is a quick collection of some amazing photographs from around the country starting with Linda L. Lowe:

So many lovely garden photographs. I wanted to include two close up photographs from my good friend, Jacob Henry. These two pictures really capture the beauty of the flowers:

Just a stunning collection of beauty there. All these photographs are property of each person who shared and use without prior consent is prohibited. It's been a VERY busy month for me with the beginning of landscaping season starting. April is also my shipping month for daylilies and it's a lot of work to get every one's daylilies shipped, but I'm almost done. I have the last segment of the season coming up with videos from my friend Jacob Henry and myself to close out the season. Hope you have enjoyed everything.

Distinctive daylilies. Daylilies that you just can't imagine existing. I have been seeing more and more unique pictures of seedlings and introductions that are so special, they have to be shared. Here is a quick collection of some fascinating daylilies:

There you go folks. What an amazing collection of distinctive daylilies. Folks are really pushing the envelope across the country and exploring different types of hybridizing we haven't even imagined. I feel lucky to be close to some of the action. Next segment will most likely be pictures of daylily gardens at peak bloom. The blog season is winding down and Spring is cranking up. Hope you folks are well.
I think the first person to show me groups of blooms together was Dan Hansen. Dan would take a photograph of a group of blooms and ask the people on Facebook which one was their favorite? I loved this approach because inevitably your eye would go towards a certain daylily bloom. Recently I have used this method to see which color in a group of blooms was my favorite. Also when you look across a daylily field, one finds themselves drawn in to certain colors. For me it's yellows. They seem to grab my attention from a distance....followed by reds in a close second. I asked my friends on Facebook to share their multi bloom pictures and was pleasantly surprised by the response. Here are some awesome photographs of collections of daylily blooms:

WOW!!! That's a lot of eye candy there! Thank you so much to all the people who shared their photographs for this colorful thread. All pictures are property of each person who shared them and use without prior consent is prohibited. Well.....how do I follow something like that up?!! That's going to be tough. Spring is just around the corner. Happy to see March arrive and can't wait for our first color of the season. I'm sure everyone is planning out their garden right about now. Not sure what is next so stop back in to see. Thanks.
