Lewis Daylily Garden Popularity Poll

WINNER: Starman (Rich Howard) Photo by Theresa Maris

RUNNER UP: Heavenly United We Stand (Jamie Gossard) Photo by Bill Hurt

I decided to simplify the Lewis Daylily Garden Popularity Poll by asking a very large group of my daylily friends on Facebook to nominate their favorite daylily introduction from this past year.  I had a long list of nominees across a broad spectrum of daylily varieties.  It was pleasing to see so many current daylilies nominated.  The winner with the most votes was Rich Howard's Starman, which as you can see is a very lovely striped daylily and gaining popularity with each passing year.  Runner up was Jamie Gossard's Heavenly United We Stand.  Then there was a 3 way tie for 3rd place and those daylilies are below:

Thank you to all who participated.  All the above photographs are the property of each person who shared them and use without prior consent is prohibited.  Happy holidays to all my gardening friends who check in and enjoy this blog.  Next up is my interview with Chad Bush.  Chad is working feverishly on his questions and hopefully I will be able to post it after the first of the year.  Thanks.

Striped daylilies from the 2023 season, Part 2.

Now we move on to striped daylilies in other color combinations and some spectacular seedlings in the Steve Todd, Clown Pants style.  Speaking on my own behalf, I am very partial to the seedlings I am seeing coming out of Angela Ridder's introduction, Richard J. Howard.  The sib to Richard J. Howard, Paintball Party is proving to be a great parent as well.  Stripes are advancing very quickly and it is nice to see more and more people taking interest in this style.  Here we go with more striped daylilies!

I wanted to include Elaine Seifert's stippled intro at the end there because of it's uniqueness.  Stippling and speckling is a whole nother can of worms, which I could do a segment on in the future.  I'd like to thank all of the hybridizers for submitting these wonderful pictures!  All the above pictures are the property of each person who submitted them and use without prior consent is prohibited.  Well, hope everyone is having a nice holiday season!  We have more segments to go this season and hopefully my interview with Chad Bush at some point.  Looking forward to that one!  Happy Holidays!
